BIOGRAPHY:
William H. Weisman received his art education at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and worked in Philadelphia and Detroit before moving to Franconia, NH in 1878. His home and studio were on the Agassiz Road between Franconia and Bethlehem near the source of the Weisman Brook, which was named for him. In his early years Weisman was interested in singing and had some minor parts in grand opera productions. In later life Weisman took up photography and did many White Mountain photographs. In 1890 the White Mountain Echo, a weekly newspaper, reported:"Mr. W. H. Weisman, the artist, has again opened his White Mountain studio in Franconia. A fine collection of his paintings of the mountains and New England scenery, all sizes, at very moderate prices. An invitation is extended to all. Open every day."
