Ancient Near East, The Levant, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE. A lovely pottery head of a goddess enveloped in a caramel-hued glaze. The fascinating visage displays carved and incised details, such as sunken eyes with extended outer edges, a prominent nose, a straight mouth, and a pointed chin, all surrounded by a helmet-like headdress with a risen periphery and central ridge travelling down the verso. Size: 2.3" W x 2.7" H (5.8 cm x 6.9 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
