Description
Greece, ca. 4th century CE. A gorgeous pottery head of a goddess. She has a sensitive and naturalistic face, clearly from the Classical period; she wears a headdress and large earrings (one of which remains) and has elaborately coiffed hair. This may have been a votive offering for a temple or made to be a copy of a larger, possibly bronze, statue. The remains of a darker, reddish paint are still visible. Size: 1.1" W x 1.75" H (2.8 cm x 4.4 cm)
