Color map with ornamental borders. Full sheet: 49x59 cm (19x23").
Scarce ornamental map depicting the United States and Mexico during the Mexican-American War. It shows a small New Mexico Territory situated between the new state of Texas and the disputed area of New California. A red line follows the Platte, Snake and Columbia Rivers labeled the "Route of Oregon Immigrants" as well as a "Route to the United States" stretching from San Francisco to the Sweetwater River. The ornamental border includes 30 state seals with two columns of statistical information on each side of the map. The last dated state is Iowa, 1846.
Condition
General light wear and toning, darkening at some folds, some small tears at folds, a few repairs with archival tape; very good.
