Description
NUMBERED and LIMITED EDITIONRare Madame Alexander - The Bride was the FIRST PORCELAIN doll ever made by Madame Alexander (MA stock number 001) and is a NUMBERED and LIMITED EDITION doll made in 1989 only - this doll is #1126 of 2500 and is in excellent, like-new condition. She comes with her faux diamond ring, tag and numbered certificate, original box, and original wood stand. Each opened for the first time to take the pictures shown | Provenance: From the Estate with possibly the largest doll collections in Tennessee. This doll is spectacular!! Modern styling with a Victorian feel. The Bride is costumed in beautiful ivory satin and jacquard fabrics. The description from the 1989 Alexander catalog is "...a soft bouffant skirt of ivory burn-out jacquard, gathered sash and bustle, and hundreds of tiny seed pearls [sic] and mirrored sequins hand-sewn on a delicate rose and leaf pattern." The bodice and long puffed sleeves are of the same jacquard fabric. The double-layer skirt is of ivory satin. The outer train is hemmed with the same faux pearls. The inner straight skirt is adorned with several buttons down the front. Underneath she wears pantalettes, stockings, and matching shoes with faux pearl trim. She wears a delicate crown of faux pearls and a simple double-layered veil and blusher made of tulle. Please note: The entire outfit is ivory. The head, lower arms, and lower legs are of Bisque which has been hand-painted, the remaining body is cloth. According to the catalog, the mold for the head was destroyed after production All bows are factory tied. Also included is the original doll stand with a wooden base and "Bride" plaque. She comes with her original box & tissue (the box does have some shelf wear) original tag and Certificate of Authenticity.
