A Carved wooden mask with many attached goat horns and a well weathered surface. Guere or We peoples, Liberia, Africa. This mask is typically known as "Gela" and it is thought that the wearer can use their power and strength for both destructive and beneficial ends. It is believed the gela can gather up the ill will and negative feelings plaguing a community and deposit them back into the forest, where the untamed forces of nature prevail. The mask measures 9.5 x 6 inches. A display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00. Provenance: A Private Pennsylvania collection.
