Item Details

Description

First quarter 19th century, figured maple, maple veneer with poplar secondary. Square nail construction. Four graduated, thumbmolded dovetailed drawers with replaced pulls, scalloped apron and French style feet. Fitted interior with multiple drawers. Some edge loss. 41.75"h. 31" writing height. 36.5"w. 20"d.

Condition

Late refinishing. Sliver size repairs at hinges, most likely in the making, they almost appear to be scribe marks. Small exterior dent/scratch at left hinge. Interior drawer above door has some reworking, wire nails instead of dovetails like rest of drawers. Top drawer in case has pieced edge repair, 2nd drawer has corner loss. Age split in top right edge, small split in left front leg. Multiple small areas of veneer loss on the front and sides.
