Description
Impressive 19th C. Tiffany and Co sterling silver footed punch bowl with Bacchante handles. Stamped with the "T" mark indicating the date of manufacture between 1891-1902. The letter marks also indicates the President of the Tiffany company. The "T" stands for Charles L. Tiffany, the founder and president. Decorated with a Roman frieze. The Bacchic male and female jesters are adorned with garlands of bells and serve as the handles. The punch bowl is not monogrammed. A similar example of the Bacchic motif on a punch bowl can be found at The Art Institute of Chicago. This punchbowl hails from the estate of an old Virginia family. 11"h x 16"dia. and appx. 92 t.o.
