1945 Pablo Picasso "Femme Debout" Bronze #8/10. Mr. Darsky acquired this stunning Picasso Bronze in December of 1996. Provenance: Sotheby Parke Bernet Sale Number 4127 Friday May 19,1978 Lot# 374 Numbered 8/10 and stamped with the foundry mark "C. Walsuani Cire Perdue". Bronze with Dark Brown Patina, Standing 7 1/2" or 20 cm. Executed in 1945. Galerie Louise Lairis, Paris Literature: cf. Werner Spies, Sculpture by Picasso, 1971, no.312, P.307, Illus.p.382. Additional Letters from Sotheby's dated April 3,1985 and Email/printout from another interested party dated Sept.21, 2003 also to be forwarded to the new owner with this lot. The last recorded example we found sold May 8,2014 at Sotheby's New York during their Impressionist and Modern Art Sale. It was Cataloged as Lot# 113 "Femme Debout" Bronze #6/10 with a pre-sale estimate of 30-40,000. Final Price Realized was $87,500.00. We were told by another collector that yet another example sold privately within the last 3 years fetching around 120,000. The example offered is #8/10 and exemplary in every way. We also have the Custom Wood Shipping Crate from New York dated Dec.1996 that carried this fine Picasso Bronze when Mr. Darsky purchased it. Estimate 75,000-125,000.
