Wraps and text very good plus, clean and unmarked. Half red morocco and marbled board by Rose Bindery, Boston. Gilt lettering and detailing still bright and clear on spine. Sprinkled edges. Bdg near fine except for mild edgewear, nick to edge of covers, and shelfwear to corners. Label on front pastedown, printed with “This book is from the library of Herman E. Dark green half leather and cloth. Very good plus. Spine tips, boards’ edges and corners mildly bumped and rubbed. Half-inch faded spot on cover. Clean text, only very mild, sporadic foxing. Profusely illustrated with b/w pictures by various illustrators. Color frontis. ++ Wide Awake .Vols 10-11, Jan.-Dec. 1880, 12 monthly issues. Consists of stories, poetry & illustrations, including the first edition of Five Little Peppers and How They Grew (Jan.-June 1880) by Margaret Sidney [Harriet M. S. Lathrop]. Half black leather and marbled board, marbled eps. Gilt lettering on spine still bright. Lower half of front hinge cracked, covers edgeworn, covers a little bubbled and creased in some areas.
