Description
Great content partial section of 'The Universal Magazine for June, 1781', 54pp. 8vo., bearing articles about the life and voyages of Captain Cook, Washington's defeat on Long Island, printed letters from Lord Cornwallis about troop movements, and other news about the Revolutionary War. Far too diverse to exhaustively quote, just a small notable segment reads: 'Some small time previous to the arrival of the fleet and army, plots in favor of the royal cause were discovered in New York...some small executions took place, great numbers were confined, and many abandoning their homes...were pursued as outlaws...in the mean time, the declaration of Independance was published in all colonies and every-where received with great testimonials of joy...' Two pages chipped at upper-right, else very good condition.
