(1744-1819) British Navy Admiral, brother of Charles Cornwallis, who served in the American Revolution and later was a close friend of Admiral Horatio Nelson, serving as the commander of the Channel Fleet during the Napoleonic Wars. Manuscript D.S., 1p. legal folio, 'aboard His Majesty's ship Crown at Prince of Wales Island', Feb. 5, 1791, appointing a man named James Little as 'Surgeon's Second mate of His Majesty's ship Perseverance.' Light soiling, but otherwise fine condition.
