Jean Chapus was a manufacturer and decorator of porcelain in Limoges since his youth.
He worked as a decorator for William Guerin, and since 1890 in the workshop in the rue Alary Montmailler.
In 1928 he bought from Raynaud & Cie the former factory Saint-Gence at the 49 avenue Montjovis.
In its conduct was accompanied by his three sons: René, Marcel and Louis. The company was called Jean Chapus et Fils.
After his death in 1933, the company changed its name to the Porcelaines Chapus Frères.
In 1950 Chapus brothers stopped production of the white porcelain and continued operations as a decorating studio.
Production partially covered decorative bathroom products under the brand name Limosanit and kitchenware Thermolinite.
