Mintons Majolica 'Shrewsbury' Cobalt-Blue Ground Vase and Cover
Date cypher for 1864
Impressed uppercase mark, shape no. 497
Oviform with four double loop strap handles, the conical cover with budding finial, each side with a white primrose above anthemion palmettes, on a socle foot. Height 11 inches.

Provenance:
With Charles L. Washburne Antiques, Chappaqua, PA, invoice indistinctly dated 6 May 2007.

Note:
This form is thought to have been named in honor of A.W.N. Pugin's great architectural patron and friend Lord Shrewsbury.
