Description
PROVENANCE:
From the Estate of Gerrik Baters, Jr. of Cartersville, GA (1928 - 2020). Veteran, Accountant, Private Collector. After several attempts he found success and a path towards a new career. He also was surrounded and fascinated by the ornate porcelain pieces that she had collected over the years. Learning the history, studying the marks and identifying certain aspects of these items became his passion. His friends called him the professor of Porcelains. While his knowledge has passed with him many of his treasures are left behind.
Dimensions: 3" H x 2-3/4" Diam
Chinese porcelain potted in a round shape, bulbous body with flat base, rounded shoulder gently elevated short neck toward opening. Covered overall with a soft creme-grayish glaze suffused with a fine crackle ending at the bottom of the foot rim to expose the dark-grey ware burnt olive-brown at the edges. The glaze appearance resembled the texture of an orange peel "ju-pi" (chu-p'i) or a chicken skin. Probably from Song Dynasty.
