Dong Embroidered Jacket With Batik, China, Early 20th C. A vest-like jacket with open front and sides with tie closure. On front side: wax-resist (batik) cotton with silk embroidery over batik designs, embroidery on cotton tabby cloth and patchwork plain cotton, wax-resist dyed cotton and tabby silk fabrics. Cotton tabby, hand woven silk tabby, silk thread, silver strips. Dong People, Southeastern Guizhou Province, Liping County. Size: 18'' x 18.5'', (46 x 47 cm). Provenance: Ex. Roger Hollander collection.
