During the American Revolution, General Washington attended Masonic celebrations and religious observances in several states including North and South Carolina and supported Masonic Lodges that formed within army regiments.
Hayden outlines in his book, Washington and his Masonic Compeers how Washington and several of his friends were Masons participating in the secret rituals and rites of the Mason Society. Hayden spends the first half walking through the masonic history of George Washington and then goes on to give brief masonic histories of fellow countrymen including Benjamin Franklin!
