Includes two items from the Rittenhouse family, including: ** Isaac Rittenhouse's will, a true copy, 1805, 4 pp. (with tissue repairs, soiled, creased.) ** A vellum indenture document, 1807, concerning Isaac and Susanna Rittenhouse, 29" x 9.75" (creased, soiled.) *********** The Rittenhouse family has a history as early pioneers in New Jersey. Isaac Rittenhouse's son, Samuel, along with his slave Cato, helped to hide their horses from the British and Tories during the Revolutionary War. The Rittenhouse Tavern, in Rosemont, N.J., was reportedly used by George Washington to dine during the Revolutionary War. –
