In Latin, black ink, double columns of 48 lines each, rubricated in red and blue ink. *********** A leaf from the Biblical book of Ecclesiastes, containing chapters 1 through 7 (1 and 7 partial, 2-6 full), includes chapter 3 (For everything there is a season...) Written by Solomon in his old age, passages from the book of Ecclesiastes are often quoted today (all is vanity, nothing new under the sun, etc.) American author Thomas Wolfe once remarked, "I am not given to dogmatic judgments in the matter of literary creation, but if I had to make one I could say that Ecclesiastes is the greatest single piece of writing I have ever known, and the wisdom expressed in it the most lasting and profound." –
