A Chinese jade plaque dating from the 18th or 19th century carved with a pair of pomegranates on one side and four characters on the other. The four characters read "Liu Kai Bai Zi" or "pomegranates present abundant offspring."

Dimensions are: 2 1/8 inches tall X 2 inches wide X 3/16 inches thick, 5.4 cm X 5.08 cm X 0.5 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Provenance: From the private, premier collection of a gentleman in Cleveland, Ohio. The items in the collection were acquired starting in the 1970s from auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams, as well as from various private collections in the United States. Previously from the collection of the owner of China House Inn Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
