Victorian French Bucheron & La Bucheronne Sculptures

Item Details

Description

These are great French sculptures called La Bucheronne and Bucheron. The woman looks to be carrying wheat over her shoulder and the man is a woodsman. Many sculptors did versions of these figures so it is hard to pinpoint who created the original. These appear to be spelter with their titles sculpted in and are mounted to dark bases with felt bottoms. No other visible markings and stand approx 13" tall

Condition

Sculptures themselves appear excellent.Â The back of one base has a repair which also is showing a small crack.
