He is best known for his various series of paintings inspired by urban walls. To Dogançay, walls are a testament to the passage of time, reflecting social, political, and economic change. They also bear witness to the assault of the elements and to the markings left by passers-by. No other artist has explored urban walls more thoroughly and with the same passion as Burhan Dogançay.- Dogançay is the recipient of many awards.
