Up for sale here we have a George “Blue Dog” Rodrigue color silkscreen, titled "Paper, Ribbons and Me”, of his iconic figure with his mistle toe around his neck. Additionally, the piece is hand signed, numbered 69 of 150, was published in 2000, and comes with a gallery certificate guaranteeing its authenticity. Furthermore it is one of Rodrigue’s best, and most desirable pieces, showcasing his captivating vision and remarkable genius in developing expressive images of the Blue Dog. Finally, it is of impressive craftsmanship and size, approximately 22" x 18" (archival matted to 20" x 15.75") and 30" x 26" with its custom frame. Making this one of our personal favorites by Rodrigue.

George Rodrigue (1944- 2013): The single most influential Cajun artist in history whose art consistently celebrated the people, traditions, and legends of New Orleans.George Rodrigue was fascinated by his Cajun roots and wanted to find a way to share his traditions with the world. He was inspired by the school of Abstract Expressionism and idolized Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock. His first famous works were The Aioli Dinner and Three Oaks but soon after, his works introduced the Acadian heroine, Evangeline and the modern day equivalent he created named Jolie Blonde. Today, George Rodrigue is most well-known for his Blue Dog paintings. Said to be a memorial to his former dog named Tiffany. The first painting where the blue dog appears is called Loup Garou, after the Cajun werewolf legend. The Blue Dog image became iconic when it was used by Absolut Vodka in 1992 and the Xerox Corporation in following years. The image became so popular that it worked its way into the American political lexicon: the term "Blue Dog Democrat" is said to reference his Blue Dog images. The image has become so popular that the artist is often referred to as George "Blue Dog" Rodrigue. After the tragic Hurricane Katrina, George Rodrigue became a significant social activist. He created memorial paintings for the Red Cross titled We Will Rise Again.
