A monumental Minton Majolica vase and cover, dated 1888
Of inverted baluster form, on a circular foot, moulded Greek key borders below the fluted neck, the elaborate foliate handles picked out in green and yellow against a vibrant turquoise ground, the interior washed in mauve, the domed cover with an orb finial, 86cm high, impressed MINTONS (2)

There is a fine crack in the footrim, which extends to the top of the fluted foot. There is a small, shallow chip, less than 1cm in length where the foot meets the body of the vase. There is a small section of the applied foliage on one handle lacking, approximately 4.5cm in length and the tip of one leaf on the other handle is lacking. The bolt joining the body to the foot has loosened allowing the vase to wobble slightly, which could most likely be rectified with tightening the bolt.
The finial has been broken and re-stuck, the adhesive has discoloured and there appear to be some small slivers of porcelain at the break lacking. There is some typical minor crazing to the glaze.
