A George Jones Majolica game pie dish, cover and liner, circa 1875
Of oval form, the body moulded with rabbits among grasses and ferns against a deep blue ground, the rustic handles with leafy terminals complete with acorns and ivy, the cover with a large quail resting on grasses and ferns, 34cm long, applied registration lozenge to underside (3)

The cover and finial are in good condition.
The liner is heavily crazed, the crazing having picked up some stain. There is a rim chip approximately 2.8cm x 0.5cm in size.
The dish is in good condition save for four shallow chips to the inner flange, upon which the liner and cover sits. These range from 0.5cm to 2.2cm in length and are not visible when the cover is in place. There is a fine vertical crack running down from the rim, which stops short of the base.
