Description

MADAME ROLAND: (1754-1793) Born Marie-Jeanne Philipon, also known as Manon Roland de la Platiere. French Revolutionary salonniere and Writer. She was the first Girondin to be arrested during the reign of terror and guillotined. Very rare A.N.S., `RolandÂ´, one page, 8vo, in French. Manon annotates four lines in her hand at the base of a small autograph letter by her husband Jean Marie Roland de la Platiere, stating `Make this letter I am sending you pass, with some news, inserted in the letter of M. RolandÂ´. To the upper part, Jean Marie Roland states in part Â´..I send to you my wifeÂ´s response to your kind letter, I would be obliged if youâ€¦Â´ Slightly uneven left edge, otherwise G Jean Marie Roland de la Platiere (1734-1793) French inspector of manufactures who, largely influenced by his wife, became a leader of the Girondist. Appointed Minister of the interior in 1792 under King Louis XVI.
