Description
A set of correspondence with copies of a photograph of a Polish aviator Tadeusz Blicharz serving during World War II in the British RAF Air Force in squadron 304. He took part in the Battle of BritainTADEUSZ THE BLICHARZPolish Air Force 304 SquadronHe was born on February 1, 1915 in Krakow. In 1939 he graduated from the Aviation Cadet School in Dęblin and was assigned to the 2nd Aviation Regiment in Krakow. As a pilot of the Polish plane, Karaś under the command of Major Bisztyga made combat flights in the September campaign bomb squadron.After the end of the fighting in Poland, he got to France through Romania, and then to England, where as a pilot of the 304 Bomber Squadron. "Ziemia Śląska" took part in combat flights over Germany.In the last flight over Germany, on the way back after the bombing of the target, under extremely difficult weather conditions, the crew of Lieutenant pil. Tadeusz Blicharz, having problems with the indications of the compass, could not know the position of the plane well, which resulted in landing at the German airport of Messerschmitts near Brussels. The Germans surrounded the plane, Tadeusz Blicharz, in order not to hand over the machine to the enemy's hands, started a fire - the plane completely burned down among the exploding ammunition and tanks.The entire crew was captured and placed in the Stalag Luft 3 camp in Żagań near Wrocław.For outstanding military deeds lieutenant pil. Tadeusz Blicharz has been awarded many decorations, including the Order of Virtuti Militari, three times the Cross of Valor, the Air Medal, the September Campaign Cross, the Air Crew-Europe Star and many other English combat decorations.After the end of hostilities of World War II, he left for the United States of America and settled in San Francisco (California).Later, he lived in Paradise, California with his wife, Ada, who was his best friend. He died on March 16, 2010 in Paradise. The last farewell took place both on the American soil, where he spent most of his life, and on the homeland he always carried in his heart and for which he fought. The first funeral was held on May 9, 2010 in the Polish church in Martinez (California), and on September 23, 2010, Tadeusz Blicharz's ashes were placed on Polish soil in the Aleja Zasłużonych in Warsaw Powązki.************IMPORTANT!
