An Egyptian terracotta concubine figure, 2nd Intermediate Period, Dynasty 17, c. 1630 - 1539 BC. The stylized female depicted nude, with narrow waist, accentuated hips and pointed breasts, the slender legs tapering downward. She holds her arms against her sides, hands on her thighs, pubic triangle indicated with rosette around belly button and on her buttocks, perhaps tattoos, her triangular head with angular eyes without brows, her mouth a tiny slit beneath her nose. Her necklace is applied and she wears bracelets which are indicated by parallel incised lines. H: 5 1/8" (13 cm). Head professionally reattached, some losses to feet. A lovely example! Cf. Hayes, The Scepter of Egypt, Part II. p. 17, fig. 6 for a similar example; Ex Los Angeles private collection.
