Antique oil painting on panel Italian masterpiece by Jose Serra Y Porson (1824 – 1910).
“Feed the rabbits”.
This excellent antique oil painting on panel is representing a genre scene with two kids who feed the rabbits.
Painting is in good condition with repair at the bottom left and some traces of time. Signed and dated lower right. Framed. Josep Serra i Porsón (Rome, Italy, 1824 - Barcelona, ​​Catalonia, 1910) Catalan painter and professor of fine arts. He was a student of the School of Fine Arts in his native city and that of San Fernando in Madrid. He excelled in miniature drawing, in which he became a true specialty. He devoted himself to teaching it for over fifty years. It shaped several generations of artists who recognized his rare aptitude for education.
Among them were Josep Pelegrà i Clariana, Modest Urgell, Josep and Francesc Masriera, Josep L. Pellicer, Sans Castaño and many others. He was a professor at the Provincial School of Fine Arts in Barcelona until his death. He won several medals and awards at national and international exhibitions.
