Description

An imposing French gilt and patinated bronze and variegated marble figural clock
the figural group after a model by Clodion
late 19th century
The circular enamel dial indistinctly signed with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the twin train movement striking on a bell.
height 27 1/2in (70cm); width 15 1/2in (39.5cm); depth 14 1/2in (37cm)
Provenance:
Property from the Geith Estate, Santa Barbara, California.

Condition

General marks, scratches, rubbing, oxidation, wear and dirt accumulation. Very dark patina to bronze. Beaded border broken and loose. Toning to gilt bronze. Small old repairs and nicks to edges of marble. Front right foot bent and sitting askew. Enamel dial with scratches and rubbing to inscription. Movement maintaining power and striking correctly. Working condition not guaranteed.
