Description
BLOWN-MOLDED GV-8 QUART DECANTER, medium sapphire blue, plain lip, plain base with rough pontil mark, pattern-molded type 29 stopper with 16 pronounced ribs that end at a 1" D unpatterned area on top. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1825-1840. 11 1/4" HOA, 9 1/4" H to lip.

Catalogue Note: A very hard to find decanter with original stopper. Ken Wilson - American Glass, volume 1, p. 222, fig. 248 illustrates a pint example from the Toledo Museum of Art collection, a donation from Edward Drummond Libbey in 1917 (1917.247). Another quart example is in the Mabel Brady Garvin Collection at the Yale University Art Gallery, donated in 1930 (1934.224a-b).
