BLOWN-MOLDED GIII-24 CREAMER, deep cobalt blue body, colorless applied strap handle with medial rib and compressed curl, tooled rim, rayed base with rough pontil mark of colorless glass. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1820-1840. 4 3/8" H, 2 7/8" D rim, 2 1/4" D base.

Catalogue Note: This creamer is one of only five recorded examples featuring a colorless handle. The McKearins noted only one example in their 1941 tome as did Barlow and Kaiser in their volume 1 in 1993; both referencing the specimen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Later in 1993, Arlene Palmer published the example in the Winterthur Museum collection that was acquired by Henry F. du Pont in 1959 (59.3286). Palmer also noted the examples in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection that was donated by Frederick W. Hunter in 1913 (13.120.24) and in the Mabel Brady Garvin Collection at the Yale University Art Gallery, donated in 1930 (1930.1964). Another specimen with a handle crack is in a private New England collection. The Winterthur example is lacking the handle curl, the condition of the remaining two examples is unverified.
