Description
AN ITALIAN SILK AND LINEN BURATTO ON MODERN NETTING WALL HANGING, EARLY 18TH AND EARLY 20TH, of vertical rectangular form and a scalloped hem of stylized floral blooms, enclosing a conforming reserve with a paired leafy scrolls base issuing sides of continuous blossoming foliage, capped by greek key devices beneath a curling acanthus broken pediment suspending a delicate leafy vine hung with single bloom, above butterflies fluttering about a flowering stem filled two-handled vase resting on a stepped scrolling foliage stand over a floral spray filled coupe, hand-stitched onto brown netting and backed with black netting, before a separate silvery-blue rayon drapery and hung from metal loops on a stained wood rod with carved finials. Height: 9' 6 1/2" Width: 52"
Condition
Faded, loose threads, tears, losses, repairs and dry thread. Possibly was an entre fenêtre at one time. Both brown and black netting are of a more modern date.
