Description
A German horseman's hammer, circa 1600Wrought iron. Curved beak with square cross section and conical, surrounding facetted hammer head. On the left side of the socket an inserted belt hook. Solid octagonal shaft, slightly conically reinforced on both ends and offset by two faceted spacers, with florally chiselled quadrangular base. Grip with original (slightly loosened) wrap and Turk's heads of iron wire. Unilateral side lug at the rondel guard, the flat globular pommel with circumferential faceting. Black-brown patina. Length 69 cm.Condition: II
