A 19th century American Centennial needlework sampler. Multicolor embroidery on linen, made by "Eliza S. Anderson, born DePeyster, February 1862" and dated "1876" for the Centennial year. Eight rows of alphabet, flower baskets and crowns. Some staining and minor damage, not examined out of frame. Sampler 16 3/4 x 19 1/2" high, framed 18 1/4 x 21 1/4" high overall. ESTIMATE $200-300
