Lapis Lazuli Stone Hinged Trinket box by the Chilean jewelry designer Morita Gil. A nice vintage piece by this highly collected artist, size: 1 ¾ in.wide x 2 3/8 in long. x 1 inch high. Morita Gil is a Modernist Jewelry designer recognized for quality and craftsmanship in her hand made jewelry and “objects of virtue” pieces, like the box offered here. She is regarded as producing the best quality pieces in the Chilean artisan jewelry market. She uses mostly stones native to her home country of Chile for her pieces. Her pieces have been presented as gifts to heads of state and dignitaries by the Chilean Government. A lapis box made by her once and owned by the David Rockefeller family has passed through auction.
