Description
Pair of African Carved Wood Figures, 20th c., of animals, clad in sheet iron with cowrie shell decoration, Larger- H.- 28 1/4 in., W.- 6 1/2 in., D.- 16 in. Provenance: Palmira, the Estate of Sarkis Kaltakdjian (Sarkis Oriental Rugs), Prairieville, Louisiana.
Condition
One has a cloth drape hung with cowrie shells, the other does not. Tarnish to brass mounts. Heavy surface dirt. Some cracks in brass ornaments. Very minor losses to figure without drape, on proper left side of face. Handsome examples.
