Item Details
Description
Pablo Picasso and Paloma Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973)/ (French/Spanish, b 1949) Manner of/ Attributed: Homme et Femme Enchevetres (man and woman entangled) Accompanied by a letter on onion skin paper from Paloma Picasso to Anita Loos. This letter makes for a wonderful "fan girl" slice of Paloma's life from the 1970s. Anita Loos was an author and screenwriter and one of the first woman to be highly recognized as such in Hollywood. She is best known as the author of "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" which was made into a motion picture featuring Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe. In this letter Paloma is communicating about her follow up book "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes but Marry Brunettes.
The drawing is composed of crayon on paper hinged to matboard. Signed upper center. The paper appears to have been removed from a book (possibly a sketchbook). Framed.

Picasso was the most dominant and influential artist of the first half of the twentieth century. Associated most of all with pioneering Cubism, alongside Georges Braque, he also invented collage and made major contributions to Symbolism and Surrealism.

13.75 x 16.5 inches framed; 5 x 7.25 inches paper. The letter is approximately 12 x 8 inches.

Both items are believed to be from the estate of Anita Loos; Collection of Steve Rust, Oklahoma; acquired in a private sale by the current owner, a California Gentleman.

Condition
Very good condition with toning throughout; bottom edge of paper slightly ragged. The letter is in well preserved condition.
