Description
DESCRIPTION: A fine small cylinder shaped early Meiji period Japanese cloisonne vase or brushpot. It has two medallions of floral motifs set against red to orange backgrounds. This vibrant orange and the speckled green shoots are similar to early Namikawa works including a larger and finer cylinder vase that I just recently sold here on eBay. The medallions are surrounded by a black field with small semi circular designs, with a light blue and red border. TYPE: Antiques SUB TYPE: Vase REGION: Asia SUB REGION: Japan MEDIUM: Cloisonne ARTIST/MAKER: Unknown SIGNED/UNSIGNED: Unsigned DATE: C 1880s-90s INSIDE HEIGHT: 5 INSIDE WIDTH: 3.125 OUTSIDE HEIGHT: OUTSIDE WIDTH: OUTSIDE DEPTH:
Condition
Has one small spot of damage to enamel in the upper center of the medallion with just leaves, no flowers. Some small areas where the enamel is lower, but these look to be in the firing. We have provided excellent hi-res photos so you can judge condition for yourself.
