R Buckminster Fuller Large Attractive Signed Photo

This glossy black and white photo shows Fuller on the grounds of his Carbondale, Illinois Dome Home, hands clasped in front of him, appearing deep in thought. Fuller patented the design for the geodesic dome in 1954; and from 1959 to 1971, he and his wife Anne lived in the Carbondale Dome Home, during which time Fuller was a research professor at the School of Architecture at Southern Illinois University.

In February 2006, Fuller’s Dome Home was added to the National Registry of Historic Places. It is possibly the most important Buckminster Fuller artifact remaining in the world today.

Richard Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) was an American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, inventor, and futurist. He styled his name as R. Buckminster Fuller in his writings, publishing more than thirty books. Fuller developed numerous inventions, mainly architectural designs, and popularized the widely known geodesic dome; carbon molecules known as fullerenes were later named by scientists for their structural and mathematical resemblance to geodesic spheres. He also served as the second World President of Mensa International from 1974 to 1983.
