Constance Talmadge (1898-1973) first appeared on the silver screen in 1914, acting in a Vitagraph comedy short "In Bridal Attire". Her first major role was in D.W. Griffith's "Intolerance", released in 1916. Constance's two sisters, Norma and Natalie, were also actresses, and the three had successful careers until the advent of "talkies" in 1929 ushered in their retirement from the film business. Flora Finch (1867-1940) was an English-born actress who starred in 300 silent films, 200 of which were produced by Vitagraph Studios. She and John Bunny became one of the first popular comedy duos in film, and their shorts became known as "Bunnyfinches" or "Bunnyfinchgraphs". Finch succeeded in making the transition to films with sound and starred in a number of "talkies" before her death in 1940.
