Description
Railroad marker lamp made by Adlake (Adams & Westlake) with four 5.5-inch diameter, Fresnel lenses, two blue (green) plastic, and two clear glass, in a spherical, cast-iron frame. The two clear glass lenses have a vertical curvature pattern on the front surface that shapes the light into a fan-shaped beam. This type of lamp was mounted in a bracket on each side of the end of a caboose, and the spherical design is sometimes called a cannonball lamp. The large, spring-loaded knob pulls out to allow the sphere to be rotated and face the correct direction. This one has been painted black with red trim around the lenses and the base, and the stub of an electrical wire pokes through the bottom. It is 9 inches wide and 9 inches tall.
