Circa 1880s, a leather album of 20 views of the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Excellent condition, bound with red ribbons. 10 x 7 inches. Frank Jay Haynes was Yellowstone's official park photographer from 1884-1921. His photographs were widely published in articles, books and made into souvenir postcards in the late 19th and early 20th century. In 1885 he bought a train car from the Northern Pacific Railroad and turned it into a photo studio; he became official photographer for the Northern Pacific Railway. After his death, a peak in the Madison Canyon area of the park was named after him. His son, Jack Ellis Haynes, (1884[x=#8211/]1962) inherited his business in Yellowstone in 1916 and continued as official park photographer until his death in 1962.Date: Country (if not USA): State: WyomingCity: YellowstoneProvenance:
