Description
Very good condition M1938 uniform to a Lt. Col. of the 36th Field Artillery that fought from North Africa through Italy. The tag is dated 1939 and named to Robert Sewall Chester, who as a Coast Artillery Officer reached the rank of Major, earned a Soldier's Medal for saving the lives of two swimmers, and contracted malaria at the Panama Canal and medically retired in 1943. The bullion rank straps are sewn to the jacket, so I suspect another officer used this jacket after Chester, but never re-named it. Included are DIGITAL copies of research of Chester including photos of him in this uniform. No hard copies of the papers or photo are included as they were downloaded from the internet. The buyer should save the photos from this listing for reference.
