A German Baroque walnut, burr walnut and parquetry double dome bureau cabinet
circa 1725
The upper section with a pair of arched doors opening to a reconfigured interior of pair of cubby holes over a central arched door enclosing three shelves flanked by a pair of Corinthian half columns, flanked by three short drawers on either side over three long drawers above a pair of pull out candle slides over a slant front reversing to a gilt tooled black leather writing surface before a well and an arrangement of pigeon holes and concave fronted drawers.

In good restored condition. With deep nutty brown tones to the rich, figured timber. With a highly polished finish. General marks, nicks, scratches, cracking and wear commensurate with age and use. Interior of upper section reconfigured. With notched incisions to horizontal panels from previous divides. Hardware replaced but lock to slant front possibly original as well as vertical stay bolt to right door. Mounts roughly cast. Gilding with an orange tone. Two keys.
