Description
CUT OVERLAY STAND LAMP, ruby cut to colorless pyriform font with foliate decoration, opaque white Hobbs base with octagonal stem, brass connector, No. 2 collar. Fitted with a period set-up comprising a Julius Ives & Co. No. 2 lip burner, thumbwheel marked "JULIUS IVES & CO.", lamp filling device adjacent to wick tube with a hinged cover and handle, cover marked "PAT. AUG 13.1861", cast brass tri-pod shade holder, marked "PATD JULY 18-65" on one petal, cut and engraved frosted ball-form shade, and lip chimney. Third quarter 19th century. 20 7/8" H to top of shade, 14 3/8" H to top of collar, 5 1/2" SQ base. Shade 6 1/8" H, 4 1/4" D fitter.
