Kunitsugu (active 1624-1645)
A Musashi wakizashi in mounts
Edo period (1615-1868), 17th century
Sugata (configuration): honzukuri, iorimune, chu-gissaki, toriizori
Kitae (forging pattern): itame hada with standing jinie
Hamon (tempering pattern): flamboyant choji gunome midare based in nie with ashi, yo and muneyaki
Boshi (tip): ko-maru
Nakago (tang): suriage with four holes, signed Musashi no kami Kunitsugu
Habaki (collar): one-piece, gold
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 22 5/8in (57.4cm)
Motohaba (width at start of tempered edge): 1 1/4in (3.1cm)
Sakihaba (width before tip): 7/8in (2.2cm)
In a shirasaya (wood storage scabbard) with inscription and attestation by Sato Kanzan and dated August, 1966
The koshira-e comprising a modern black-lacquer saya, a tsuka mounted with iron fuchi-gashira decorated with carriage wheels and grasses in gold hirazogan, gold menuki formed as dragons, and an iron Kyo-sukashi tsuba with branches and a bird in flight

Condition
Including, but not limited to the following:
The sword is in polish and is healthy.
The nakago has been over cleaned and all of the patina is gone.
There are a few light surface scratches near the hamachi, from contact with the habaki.
The corner of the habaki is bent and fits on the sword very tightly-- it can be removed but it is very tight.
Koshirae
The saya with some very light surface wear overall. There is a hairline surface lacquer crack to the lower edge of the koiguchi where it joins the saya.
The hardware all with surface oxidation and normal expected surface wear.
The sword is in polish and is healthy.
