Place Published:
Publisher:Skywald
Date Published: 1975
Description:
Original full-page illustration by Gene Day, published in Skywald's Psycho #23 (January 1975), to accompany Augustine Funnell's one-page text, "Killerclown." Pen, ink and Zip-a-Tone on bristol board, 11x13¾" including margins. Very good condition, paper evenly toned, some surface losses to top and bottom margins with just slight losses to ink at top of clown's hat, corner creases, some marginal soiling, paper losses to verso from removed tape.
A strange and chilling image of a killer clown, holding a human heart in one hand and a bloody shiv in the other, predating the arrest of killer clown John Wayne Gacy by several years, and the publication of Stephen King's "It" by eleven years.
A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now.
