Ivan Bailey (Georgia, 1945-2013) Wrought Iron Table Base of Marsh Grass with Glass Top, with four supports joined by shaped stretchers issuing marsh grasses.Ivan Bailey's metal work can be seen all across Georgia. He and is best recognized for the many garden gates, sculptures, and fountains found around Savannah, including in Troup Square and at the Beach Institute and the 'Phoenix Rising' sculpture in John Howell Park Atlanta. Bailey earned a masters degree in fine arts from the University of Georgia and developed his blacksmithing skills as a student in Germany. He operated Bailey's Forge on Bay St. in Savannah before leaving for Atlanta in 1981. A skilled blacksmith, Bailey received many honors during his career, including the Governor's Award from the Georgia Council for the Arts and the Award for Craftsmanship from the Georgia Association of the American Institute of Architects.
