Kurt Cobain/Nirvana Christmas Card
A Christmas card from Nirvana, 1991, the color printed greeting card with color photograph depicting Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic in a spoof family pose with Cobain wearing a baby's bib printed 'Baby's First Christmas,' the card signed and inscribed inside in red ballpoint pen in Cobain's hand, 'Hairy Piss Miss Carrie, Love Kurdt, Chris, Dave,' with two alternative color photographs depicting the band in different poses.
Card: 7 x 5 in., Photographs: 4 x 6 in.
Footnotes:
The Carrie to whom this card was inscribed is Carrie Montgomery, one of Cobain's close friends and sister of Nirvana's then-tour manager, Craig Montgomery. Carrie recalls that Kurt gave her this card in New York in January 1992 when Nirvana was in town to film their first appearance on Saturday Night Live which aired on January 11. Apparently, Kurt couldn't decide which photograph to give her so he gave her all three. It is unknown how many of these cards were made by the band but to our knowledge, no other versions have surfaced to date.
